Saint Parascheva's Celebration of and Feast of Iasi Metropolitan Cathedral - 14th of October
Celebration of St. Parascheva is one of the most important religious events from Romania, Saint Parascheva being the patriarch pf Moldavia and Bucovina. This celebration coincides with Metropolitan Cathedral’s Feast and the Days of Iasi, the city where the holy relics are deposited in the Metropolitan Cathedral, in a silver shrine.

In these days of celebration, the coffin with holy relics is taken off from Cathedral and placed on the esplanade of Metropolitan Church for permitting the access of pelegrins. For a few days, around one million faithful pilgrims are coming from all over the world to pray at the Saint, impressed by the grace of the Holy Saint, in order to resolve health problems, financial, family issues.

During a week in Iasi is a holiday atmosphere, on this occasion are coming a lot of artisans to sell their products, religious products mostly, but you can find traditional ceramic products, leather, carpets, handicrafts and traditional food.

The peak of the festival is October the 14th, day preceded by the religious procession which takes place on the streets of Iasi, Church representatives carring on their shoulders the shrine with relics for blessing the place and those present at this event.

The religious service takes place on 14th of October, being followed by the meal of pilgrims, organized by City Hall of Iasi, where are served traditional Romanian dishes.
